Music Resources

Hampshire Music Service

HMS County Ensemble Auditions

Applications are now open for our county ensembles. Whilst many of these are auditioned, some are open to all and are particularly aimed towards primary age musicians, such as the Hampshire County Junior Band and the Hampshire County Junior Choir. More information can be found on our website

Resources

Hampshire Music Service are going to be sending out weekly music resources for as long as these extraordinary times last. There will be two different types of resource:-

  1. A Weekly Wonder – a themed learning resource designed to be used over several sessions based around a topic or the development of key musical understanding and skills
  2. A One Hit Wonder Workshop – a stand-alone workshop style resource designed to be used for a single session or perhaps half a day based around a song or specific music activity

None of these resources are dependent upon the children having prior musical knowledge or access to musical resources.

Week 3

Keep Calm and Make Music instalments are:

Weekly Wonders:

These are both very substantial resources with seven discrete sections, one for each of the musical dimensions ending with a quiz at the end. Each section has a “finding out about” page with a definition, vocabulary and links to a video clip to find out more. The next one or two slides in each section have fun activities to play and do. The idea is to do one or maybe two dimensions at a time rather than all in one sitting!

Advisory note to parents and teachers: we wanted to make you aware that both of these powerpoints have links to carefully chosen resources on youtube however we are not able to control the adverts that may sometimes appear at the start of a clip or comments  written underneath.
