Winchester Christmas Market

We are running a Christmas market stall at the Cathedral on Thursday 21 November (one day only), selling a variety of products. This is the opening day of the market so there will be lots going on. We would love to see you there and from 5pm the Harestock Community Choir will be singing outside our chalet – do come along and join in!

Happy’s Circus

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported this fantastic event. We raised around £1800 and will let you know how this will be used very soon.

Summer Fete raises over £3,800

Thanks for supporting our Summer Fete this year. Despite the variable weather you still turned out in force to help set up, run stalls, bake cakes, clear away and of course enjoy the fete and have a good time.

This year we had some new attractions, the human fruit machine, crockery smash, Nepalese food, Jamaican food, circus skills, pony rides and an assault course run by the Sir John Moore Barracks as well as our traditional favourites, cakes, BBQ, Year 6 stalls, tea tent, tombolas, penalty shoot out, bouncy castle and of course Splat the Teacher!

It was a great joint effort between the school staff and friends of the school. Thanks to everyone who helped to make it such a successful event.

There are still some raffle prizes unclaimed, please see Mrs Gordon at the circus ticket stall to see if you or your friends have won.

If you are interested in joining the committee or helping at events please email, we are always grateful for help or new members.

Lynn Ingram, Chair, Friends of the School

What does FOS do?

At Harestock Primary we are fortunate to have an active ‘Friends of School’ who raise funds to provide extra equipment and opportunities to enhance our children’s education.

We do this through organising a variety of events throughout the year, the majority of which are for the children to enjoy, such as the Easter Egg Hunt, the Summer Fete, School Disco evenings, Cake Sales and Film Nights. Other events are focused on fun for parents, like our Quiz Night and Fashion Show. ALL children will benefit from the money FOS raise over the course of their time at Harestock Primary School.

What has FOS achieved for the school?

Over the last few years we have provided some excellent facilities for the school, including a new projector screen for the hall, replacement outdoor equipment, Olympic commemorative medals and DVD’s for all children to celebrate London 2012 Games, equipment for the playground, trim trail, new musical instruments, new reading books, outdoor teaching facilities and the list goes on.

This year, we are looking to raise more funds for extra outdoor equipment, such as a shelter for the junior playground, completion of amphitheatre, an additional trim trail and further items from the school’s wish list.

Support FOS/Volunteer

We are always on the lookout for willing volunteers and would be delighted to hear from you!

The committee meet once or twice a term, but put many hours of planning into organising events.

If you have any ideas, want to get to know other parents from the school or want to support your child’s school in any way possible, FOS events are a great way to get to know people and join in the community of the school. As always with these things, the more volunteers we have the more fun and varied events we can run and the more our children will benefit.

We always need volunteers to:

  • Serve refreshments at fundraising events
  • Help set up an event/ tidy away after an event
  • Run a stall
  • Make cakes
  • Make posters
  • Help with photocopying
  • Be an entertainer
  • Offer new skills to benefit the school community
  • Donate prizes
  • Be responsible for entrance money…and the list goes on!

If you would like to get involved please contact our secretary, Allie McLean or our Chair, Lynn Ingram

An Easy Way To Raise Funds

Do you shop online? Did you know that every time you buy something you could be raising money for Harestock Friends of School?

Over 3000 well known retailers including Amazon, Tesco, Asda, Ebay, M&S, Boden, Waitrose, EasyJet, Argos,, Vodafone and many more, will donate a percentage of what you spend to Harestock Friends of School when you shop with them, via fundraising website

Please take a look at the list of retailers before you make your online purchase, so the school doesn’t miss out on valuable funds!

How does it work

It’s like nectar but instead of earning points, each purchase generates a donation. So instead of going directly to a retailer’s website, go to easyfundraising first and choose the retailer you want to shop with – then everything you spend with that retailer earns a free donation for Harestock Friends of School. It’s completely free to use and your shopping won’t cost you a penny more.

On average, each retailer will donate 5% of the cost of your shopping – and those donations soon mount up.

So whatever you need to buy, from your weekly grocery shop or fashion must-have, to your business travel, office supplies or mobile phone, buy it via easyfundraising and raise money for Harestock Friends of School at no extra cost to you!
