The Year 5 and 6 Harestock Playground Friends visited The Henry Beaufort School for ‘Playground Games and Play Pals Training’.
They worked in tandem with Mr Coe and pupils from Year 10. The programme was based around how to lead and organise games, along with the STEP acronym to support their thinking and planning.
S – space Making enough space / restricting space to make games more interesting
T – task Making the task / games / activities suitable and manageable (and fun!)
E – equipment Having the right equipment and resources for the games
P – people Correct numbers and ages of pupils for the game in question
The pupils from Harestock threw themselves into all the activities and really enjoyed the challenges. It created huge enthusiasm about leading and managing the games and activities in our own playground.
The group of older pupils are now responsible for working with the Year 3 and 4 pupils and training them in the same way.
Look out for some notices / reminders / activities with the Playground Friends in the future!
